Fix

The Revolution will be pedal-powered! But it will go smoother if your bike works.

We love bikes because they’re an accessible, universal way to give your imagination some legs. We want to give as many people as possible the endless opportunities of moving and exploring by bike, and part of that is sharing the ability to be confident that your bike is safe to ride, and the skills to fix it when it isn’t.

— Hire a toolbox, stand and pump to take home for minor repairs

— Hire our workshop with 1:1 tuition to learn more about how to fix your own bike

—Visit us at Dr. Bike events to get a free bike safety check and minor adjustments

—We work with schools to inspire and train the next generation of cyclists

Dr. Bike

Dr. Bike is a well-established type of event, where we offer free bike safety checks, as well as any minor repairs that we're able to do there and then. These are free, openly accessible bike safety checks, staffed by qualified mechanics, which give peace of mind, advice and share some knowledge about how to check your own bike and how to keep it happy. When we see bikes that need a little more attention than we can provide on-site, we can advise about what work needs to be done, give a rough idea of likely costs, and point you in the direction of one of the many independent bike shops that we’re lucky enough to have here in Strathspey. You can find information about upcoming events on the events page.

If you think that your school, youth group or organisation would benefit from a Dr. Bike Session, please get in touch on info@spinproject.scot. We aim to secure funding for more of these sessions in future.

Bike School

Since May 2024, we have been working with local primary and secondary schools to deliver bike fleet maintenance, as well as working with pupils to offer an introduction to bikes, tools and bike maintenance in small groups and a non-classroom learning environment.

Mechanics courses

Bike are an incredible tool, and the more confident you feel to look after your bike the more your horizons will expand. We want to give as many people as possible the endless opportunities of moving and exploring by bike, and part of that is sharing the ability to be confident that your bike is safe to ride, and the skills to fix it when it isn’t. Our mechanics courses are delivered by trainers with the Velotech Platinum award and over a decade’s experience of fixing bikes in busy workshops and on the trails.

You can see what courses are available on the events page.
